I have met numerous ladies that do not get their hair cut on a scheduled basis. When I ask them why they usually say, “Im trying to let it grow out” or, “I just haven’t thought about it!” I have to admit, I go as long as possible without a haircut because I become busy and it is not a priority on my list!
Not cutting your hair does not directly affect the growing of your hair it just affects it from appearing healthy! You do not want huge split ends and ratty hair do you? NO! No one does; therefore, stay on top of your hair maintenance. It is your responsibility to take care of your appearance!
Just like keeping your hair cut should be a priority it is also important to keep the flesh cut down! My boyfriend and I are studying 1 Peter and it has been marvelous and eye-opening!
1 Peter 2: 24 “For all the flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:”
Then as you look back in the Old Testament Isaiah is relaying the same message:
Isaiah 40:6-8 “A voice says, “Call out [prophesy].” Then he answered, “What shall I call out?” [The voice answered:] All humanity is [as frail as] grass, and all that makes it attractive [its charm, its loveliness] is [momentary] like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, When the breath of the Lord blows upon it; Most certainly [all] the people are [like] grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.
As a Christian we are daily fighting spiritual warfare! It is important that we keep the flesh in our lives cut down! We have to stay on top of it so it will not grow out of control. The minute we allow it to grow out of control is the minute that you start falling into Satan’s trap of destruction. We are all guilty of falling off track and placing God on the back burner. You see, when grass begins to grow out of control it gets tall and crazy! You are walking through territory that has snakes, spiders, and insects crawling around. None of them care about you, in fact, that might just bite you if you’re not careful. In order for you to see where you are going you have to keep the grass cut down! WARNING!!!!! Even though you might keep your grass cut that does not mean you will be free from the filth of this world. You see, I love walking in freshly cut grass, but after walking around in it after a while my feet become filthy and I still have to watch out for the honey bees. My point is, no matter what, you have to keep yourself clean and continually watch out for the devil’s sneaky ways! The Bible says he is as a roaring lion seeking out who he can devour. Just keep the flesh cut down and it will be easier to see him coming!
Now what does it mean when it says the flower is the glory of man? You see the glory we receive from this world will fade away, but the glory we receive in Christ is eternal! Focus on serving the Lord and completing His work because your reward will be GREAT in Heaven. DO not get caught up in what the world has to offer! Speak out truth, stand up strong, and walk boldly in Christ! If you fall and get stained by the grass of this world, get up and keep moving! God will clean you up! If you get stung by the bee of sin, keep moving! God will will give you strength to overcome the pain!
