Clean feet can defeat the filth of this world. One of my favorite stories is about Mary Magdalene. She came before God broken with her most valuable possession. Then she knelt before God with tears streaming down her face, she broke her alabaster box, and poured it upon the Masters feet. After gently washing Jesus feet she dried them with her hair. In my eyes, this story symbolizes a broken woman who has found true peace and deliverance in Christ. Now she is taking, what used to be, her most valuable possession and pouring it out upon Jesus’ feet. Her actions are expressing that Jesus is now the most valuable thing in her life. She is giving her life to Jesus and surrendering. “Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.” John 12:3
*We have valuables that we are holding onto, but we must let them go and make God our number 1 priority. Take it to the feet of Jesus and surrender your life to Christ.
Another account in God’s Word that I Love is when Jesus washes His disciple’s feet. The King of Kings makes himself into a lowly servant and washes each of the twelves feet. Peter rejects the service at first, but after Christ explains his work, Peter wants to be washed all over. What I am trying to say is allow God to wash your feet. Jesus tells Peter “If I wash thee not, thou hast no part of me.” John 13:7
*I want to be cleansed by Jesus and be as close to Him as possible. Every day we dig into Gods word we are cleaning ourselves. Wash your feet daily and allow God to lead you where you need to go.
Now, it is summer time and I am glad the Lord led me to the subject of feet. Since the weather is warming up the feet are coming out of hiding. Keep the feet clean and polish those toes. Treat yourself to a pedicure or give yourself a DIY spa treatment. You deserve it!
